Wood is eco-friendly by its nature, so wooden packaging is certainly an ecological solution (ensuring that the raw material is FSC certified). If you want to offer a completely sustainable object, however, you can choose threaded wooden caps, which avoid the use of inner plastic.
What does this mean?
In the past, wooden caps have needed an internal plastic threaded capsule to ensure perfect closing. Now, this plastic part and the associated glue for it can be definitively eliminated, resulting in a completely sustainable object.
However, not all threaded caps are equal.
Look at the picture below:
To be strong and durable, the internal thread must start at its maximum resistance section and also have a flat section. In this way, it will maintain its functionality over time while protecting the product from contamination and leakage.
Standard threads, on the contrary, start tangentially to the edge of the cap and then rise progressively until they reach their maximum section height. Since wood is a “soft” material, such structure is subjected to wear over time, losing its smooth hermetic closure.
